Search engine optimization (SEO) is a vast segment in the world of web and there are several pathways to enhance career with the knowledge of it as well as increase salary. Just the right skills can make a significant difference. A report by SEO platform Ahref reveals employers might not be seeking primary skills like mastering a programming language or being proficient in artificial intelligence. Other specific skills are more valuable now and this can boost earnings substantially.
Ahrefs analyzed 307 skills across 527 SEO job listings on Glassdoor. It found that certain skills are linked to higher salaries. The discovery was identified through specific keywords in job listings. The top keywords were names of software applications crucial for SEO professionals including Hootsuite, Salesforce, Smartsheet, Ahrefs, Moz and Semrush. These keywords related jobs offered salary increase of $35,217.
Moreover, SEO professionals with marketing experience are at added advantage. Jobs that include responsibilities like public relations, keyword research, social listening or social media marketing can offer $30,763 more.
Programming skills are not essential for all SEO roles, but having them can be beneficial. Jobs requiring knowledge in application development, software troubleshooting, services like Amazon Web Services (AWS), and coding languages such as Python and JavaScript pay about $27,999 more.
It is to note here that the importance of having a Bachelor’s degree has diminished. Only modest salary is being offered with it. A salary increase of just $9,189.
