Health and fitness are some of the greatest concerns in today’s lifestyle and tech giants like Google are playing important roles in revolutionizing these. Google has lately injected its Fitbit app with the power of artificial intelligence (AI). It revealed plans of rolling out Personal AI at The Check Up with Google Health 2024 event, promising enhanced health features for users.
The announcement highlights development of a dedicated Personal Health Large Language Model (LLM) called Gemini AI, which will act as an “on-demand personal coach” and leverage Google’s expertise to offer tailored insights as well as support to users. However, it is important here to take a note that this technology is not meant for medical diagnosis or treatment.
The segment is being led by Florence Thng, Director of Product at Google. He aims that Fitbit Lab will be capable in providing users with personalized health insights by analyzing their health as well as wellness data. Google also has plans to introduce more AI features within the Fitbit app.
The updates will be initially made available to Fitbit premium users. The features will allow individuals to interact with an AI bot. Users can ask questions based on their logged data. Users can seek answers in simple language and they can visualize their data through generated charts.
Users can inquire about connections between their sleep habits and daily activities. They can get personalized summaries. Google simultaneously intends to expand the capabilities of AI by incorporating more biomarkers. This will further enable deeper insights into the health and fitness levels of users.
In short, Google is focusing in making health analysis more accessible and understandable too. The advancement demonstrates potential of AI in personalized healthcare.
